This volume is the second in a completely new translation into modern English of Calvin's commentaries on the New Testament. Those familiar with the previous translations have frequently discovered that they failed to reveal the close coherence of Calvin's ideas, missed many of his characteristic images, and often translated whole passages poorly or omitted them altogether. Dr. Paul T. Fuhrmann, Professor of Church History at Columbia Theological Seminary, says ' Most of Calvin's works were translated into English over one hundred years ago. Such translation were naturally influenced by the mind current in those days.
