The English translation of the first part of Noth's classic study of Old Testament historiography dealing with Joshua to 2 Kings, Uberlieferungsgeschichtliche Studien, was first published by JSOT Press in 1981. For this edition, the text has been completely reset and the pagination altered. In his introduction, E.W. Nicholson writers: 'This is a classic' work in the sense that it still remains the fundamental study of the corpus of literature with which it is concerned and still provides as far as the majority of scholars are concerned the basis and framework for further investigation of the composition and nature of this corpus.
