This is a book humbly open all the time to God, to people and to the future the three directions in which Moltmann thinks the Church must be open if it is to be Catholic. It is also open all the time to the great German theological tradition in which it stands nobly. Although its style is likely to put of readers not comfortable with German theology, it is a book written by a passionate believer and evangelist with the aim of serving the world-wide Church; and the excellent translation by Margaret Kohl preserves its rare combination of learning and vigour.
