This book may be read as a stage in my pilgrimage toward a method of biblical interpretation that is personally satisfying, meets requirements of intellectual honesty and critical rigor, and is faithful to theological concerns. The pilgrimage recounted here is not only personal, however; it is the quest of students of the Bible in general. The story is dynamic it moves from a dogmatic context to historical and literary contexts.
