Catholics and Jews: A New Millennium
The new millennium marks a special moment in the life of Christianity. It is, in many respects, a milestone in world history as well as for the Christian Jewish relationship. Two cities play a key role in the spirituality of the millennium; Jerusalem and Rome. Both represent religious commitments that projects a message of peace and reconciliation. Now more than ever, humanity needs this sense of reconciliation to unite peoples in a joint effort for well being and justice. Indeed as the Israeli poet Yehuda Amihai said, 'Jerusalem is the Venice of God'. Here in Jerusalem, you can meet people of different faith commitments Christians, Jews, Muslims and other religious creeds enjoying the atmosphere of the city and paying homage to their covenants with God in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.
