The Fragility of Knowledge: Theological Education the Church & the University
This volume of essays constitutes a sequel to Theologia: The Fragmentation and Unity of Theological Education, which appeared several years ago. Theologia, in undertaking archaeological history of clergy education interrogated and criticized current North American Protestant clergy education by retrieving an older understanding of theology. The work however had its limitations: it restricted its attention to clergy education and thus neglected whole provinces of possible theological education; it failed to explore alternatives to professionalist paradigms; and it shrank from offering positive proposals about the structure of theological study. These essays take up the issues that were slighted in the earlier work.
