Several unforeseen circumstances have delayed somewhat the publication of this volume: changes in the editorship of OCA and of these Acts, both necessitated by the promotion of those formerly in charge to positions of higher authority: the failure of some authors to submit press-ready copy of their manuscripts on time or, in some cases, at all; the considerable editorial work necessitated by the number of contributions, and above all by the fact that numerous manuscripts required extensive stylistic or linguistic revision to put them into publishable form.
