This publication of the concluding Unscientific Postscript by Soren Kierkegaard, marks nor only the first English translation of the greatest work of the Danish thinker, but it also marks the last work of its translator, whose devotion to Kierkegaard began with his accidental discovery of his same work in a public library nearly forty years ago. As young graduate student in philosophy, not wholly oriented in his thought, he chanced upon this volume in the original Danish. He took it home with him, and in the course of the next twenty-four hours devoured it.
