How would you picture the 'ideal nonprofit organization'? Most of us would characterize such an organization as a purposeful, direct, successful and financially sound enterprise that is flush with a cadre of committed personnel and volunteers. A certain brand of enthusiasm for the organization's mission would seem infectious to all who came into contact with the board and staff, and obstacles to progress would simply wither away in the face of an overwhelming consensus for action. Every client served by the organization recommends it to others in the community. Every volunteer encourages others to become personally involved with the organization. It always seems to be in the right place at the right time making goods things happen.
