Speaking from the Depths: Alfred North Whitehead's Hermeneutical Metaphysics of Propositions, Experience, Symbolism, Language, and Religion
This monumental works breaks new ground in exploring some of the hermeneutical implications of Whitehead's philosophy. The book arises out of Stephen Franklin's quest to find a way of explaining how human language can speak of God. Whitehead's profound metaphysical vision developed in his central work, Process and Reality, and in other writings engages Franklin's quest. Written as a scholar's monograph, Speaking from the Depths is neither a general survey of modern hermeneutical thinking nor an introduction to Whitehead philosophy. Rather, this book presupposes previous study in philosophy and theology as well as some knowledge of Whitehead metaphysical system.
