Disciples and Discipline: European Debate on Human Rights in the Roman Catholic Church
With its first publication the European Conference for Human Rights in the Church wants to present a study on the problem of human rights in the Roman Catholic Church. The purpose of the book is not to present an overall picture, but the variety of aspects. Therefore, experts from different European countries have been invited to contribute to this project. They present their own analysis of problems such as legal protection in the church (R. Botta, Italy), the nomination of controversial bishops (P. Hebblethwaite, England), the situation of specific groups like women (I. Raming, Germany), married priests (A. Schoors, Belgium) and homosexual people (J. Van Hooydonk, the Netherlands), democracy in the church (M. Zimmermann, France) and many other. By giving them the floor, the Conference hopes to draw attention to the issues discussed.
