(Dis)Continuity and (De)Construction: Reflections on the Meaning of the Past in Crisis Situations
The questions concerning and discontinuity are at the centre of interest at present. Postmodern philosophy in particular has been very critical of continuity and deconstructs such systems, demonstrates their arbitrariness, and indicates what elements of reality are excluded from such systems. At the same time, the striving for continuity and construction is defended from other perspectives. In the area of practical theology it is claimed that leadership consists of seeking for continuity. Excluded groups demands continuity and contact with the majority, and maintain in addition that their own cultural tradition be allowed to continue.
