A Dictionary of Christian Ethics
John Macquarrie writes what does it mean to live as a Christian in the modern world? What moral obligations are imposed by membership in the Christian community? Are such concepts as sin and grace of any relevance to the contemporary problems of mankind? Are there distinctively Christian virtues or policies or patterns of behaviour? Questions such as these constitute the subject matter of Christian ethics. This dictionary is meant to be a guide through this difficult territory. It cannot be stressed too strongly that this dictionary is not a manual of Christian morality that is to say the reader cannot look up Divorce or Suicide, let us say and find pat answers to his questions of what is right and what is wrong.
