It is now almost a decade since the last revision of this most popular textbook on the history of Israel, and once again, over that period scholarship has not stood still. For the new edition John Bright has rewritten a number of sections, not least the early history of Israel, to take into account recent studies, and especially archaeological discoveries; he also updated the footnotes and bibliographies.
