A History of Pentateuchal Traditions
In its original form the book understandably has aroused various debates and objections. That is not to be deplored. For only on the basis of constant discussion does scholarly knowledge advance. It is to be hoped, therefore, that the book in its English edition will also fulfill the same purpose that it had from the beginning, namely, to stimulate thought about the origin and development of a particularly important segment of Old Testament tradition.
