A Materialist Reading of the Gospel of Mark is, despite its heavy technical apparatus, autobiographical; it tells how Belo attempted to find answers to be above question. The reader willing to share his search will be surprised by what surprised Belo, will feel within the agonies that often beset him, and will, hopefully, at journey's send, find Belo's exultant freedom upon entering into the ekklesia not simply a Christian community as a gathering, but an ekkelsia with a specific practice on three levels, economic, political and ideological. The practice, that is, of faith, hope and charity.
