On 11 November 1992 the Church of England's General Synod finally voted to ordain women as priets. Not since Synod had debated 'The Church and the Bomb' in 1983 had there been so much interest in a Church debate. Because of past disappointments and the wait while the motion passed through its various stages of discussion, the relief and rejoicing were all the more intense.
