Christ in a Changing World: Towards an Ethical Christology
In a changing, turbulent, forbidding world, many Christians find comfort in belief in a Christ who stands at the centre of history, in whom Gods work has been done once and for all, and whose person and message are recorded in definitive form in the Bible. For them, Tom Drivers book will prove disconcerting and negative. For others, however, for those dissatisfied with forms of Christianity confident of possessing all the answers, what is said here may all prove hopeful and liberating. Much of what Christianity says about Christ, argues Dr Driver, is in fact unethical, especially what is said by extremist Christians. It readily leads to anti Semitism, to sexism, to racism, often in forms so pernicious that even liberal mainstream Christians are unaware of the prejudice which it creates.
