Authority is pervasive: it touches every aspect of our lives and consequently we have the right and obligation to ask what are the norms and directions of authority and leadership (at all leaves) in the church. That is what this practical book does. The Catholic Church has become very visible: the condemnation of a theologian by the Vatican or the censuring of a nun by the local bishop is national, front page news. More importantly, it is a vital interest and concern to the laity and to other churches for whom ecumenism is a focal hope.
