Basic Types of Pastoral Care and Counselling
Like the original, the book aims to draw on the insights and experience of psychoterapy and counseling,in order to help the parish minister who is not, and does not intend to become, a specialist in counseling. Throughout, it seeks to relate newer ideas to the traditional role of the minister. This new edition reflects developments in more recent years by taking into account the rise of lay caring groups, crisis counseling, reality therapy and transactional analysis. It also recognizes the growth of environmental concerns, liberation theology and feminism. Throughout, pastoral care is seen as the context for a pastoral counseling which will emphasize spiritual wholeness and ethical growth.
