Like the socialist movement, the organized churches in Britain have largely lost contact with ordinary working men and women, and to a considerable degree for the same reason. Labour Party, Trade Union Movement, Church of England have failed to respond to the enormous social and cultural changes which have taken place since the Second World War and are still intent on presenting ideologies rather listening to those whom them they are trying to reach and beginning from their starting points, their way of life and their own insights and concerns.
