Where are We Going: Heaven or New World?
Over the past few years, workshops and seminars on the Bible and the Third World have been conducted periodically in various dioceses throughout the Philippines. Communication and exchange have been oral, but it has been felt that a written communication would also be helpful. Thus, this book. Essay One discusses a subject familiar to participants of the above mentioned workshops and seminars, namely, 'Heaven or Kingdom?' Hopefully, they will find a more systematic and fuller treatment here, which will help them i presenting the same to others in the course of their evangelical work. It is further that those who are hearing about this topic for the first time will find it useful in our effort to read the Bible in the Third World today. Essay Two, on the other hand, is a look at our official liturgy. Prayers of the Roman Missal are discussed in an effort to see where the official prayers of the church are taking us; to heaven, or to the Kingdom. For those who are journeying with the rest of humankind towards the Kingdom of God, it is hoped that this book will provide the biblical whys and wherefores of where we are really going.
