What Are They Saying About Virtue
The theology of virtue, seemingly moribund a few decades ago, is today an area of renewed vitality and growth. The perennial Christian concern with the virtues of Christian life and work is expressing itself in new and varied forms in contemporary theological reflection. This thinking is ecumenical in scope, embracing the contributions of a number of Catholic and Protestant theologians, and potentially quite broad in its parameters, including, for instance, the findings of recent research in developmental psychology. Today virtue thinking is an evolving and vital area in moral theology. The variety of approaches and interests that the author surveys witnesses to this renewed vitality. The present study provides a snapshot of the current state of evolution in virtue thinking.
