Clausewitz founded the modern basis for the systematic study of war as field of human knowledge. That in doing so he was far ahead of his time is attested by the fact that the world is only now beginning the serious study of war as a social, psychological, political, economic and technical phenomenon. This volume presents the main, currently applicable thoughts of Clausewitz in brief but adequate form, and will serve as a useful introduction to and summation of his concepts regarding the broader problems of war and conflict strategy.
